Failed this class twice but he book was good lol
This textbook is not that great at explaining tough concepts. I often find myself more confused by the textbook and have to search for other resources to explain what turns out to be something very simple. The good thing is that it has lots of good practice problems and the answers are for the most part easy to find online. Otherwise, I do not recommend this textbook unless your professor requires it
I have both Third Editions of this book due to a mix up in my Econometrics class. Yes, there are two Third Editions, both with COMPLETELY DIFFERENT EXERCISES. Why this isn't just called 4th edition is beyond me (most likely it's to get students to waste money buying the wrong book, thanks Pearson). This is the slightly better version- less typos and better problems. But I cannot justify its use- if you're a professor who plans on using a textbook for your Econometrics class, please look elsewhere. The book is a hard read for anyone without a strong statistics background, and the companion website is not easy to find when you need it. The ease of which students can just mix up the two editions should be enough to deter you from using this- it's not worth the time in class to explain the difference nor is it worth the headache and monetary burden on students.
I purchased this book for my econometrics class and it was a way better purchase than buying through the manufacturer. This is the international version, but it was identical to the domestic one. Do yourself a favor and save some money bu buying this for class.
Very well written book. It has excellent discussions on a variety of topics of importance in a first course in econometrics.
Incredibly difficult to follow, even with a stats background.
