What is lacking could fill a book! The book has no index so finding information on any given topic is hit or miss. There is no table of contents so finding information on the region, state, or city that you want requires hunting through the book. I almost missed the sections on hotels, restaurants and shopping because of the lack of a table of contents. There is no section to help plant a one week, two week, or three week tour of the country. There section on cultural norms such as tipping, what clothing to wear, or transportation. The section on hotels is meager, and the section on where to eat and drink is even shorter. There is no section on how to use the book. The book is very heavy--over 2 1/4 pounds. It is printed on coated paper, which may account for the weight. There are many photographs and maps. I will be returning this book and getting Fodor's Essential India (I borrowed a copy from the library and have a new appreciation for it.)

The print is way too small. I couldn't read it. So, I returned the book.
