So far this book is great. I played the flute in our middle school band many, many, many years ago and wanted to start playing again. I had forgotten many of the notes but this book clearly shows the finger positions for the notes and provides excellent exercises for learning. This is the perfect book for beginners or for folks like me trying to pick it back up again.
I recently picked up my old elementary school flute again to see if I could remember how to play and was surprised to find that I could not remember much of anything. I thought back to the music book that was used to teach me years ago and searched Amazon for the same piece. That brought me here to this product. With its highly memorable cover page, I knew it was the same one from back then. With the help of this book I am back to playing the flute and would recommend this book to anyone who was looking to do the same.It does not come with the physical CD but I believe there is a way to access the music online.
I used to play the flute in high school and was ecstatic that my daughter showed an interest in playing as well.You would not believe my surprise at finding the same music primer that I used in high school. Looking through the book it is easy to see how it breaks down musical theory into practical application to give music students the basic tools to take their talents even further.This book is great for beginners and can be easily understood by someone as young as 7-10.
It's a good book for what it is. I haven't played a flute since I was 12 years old, so I decided to get some books to freshen up my skills. Only negative I can say is as a self teaching adult student you don't have access to the online content. That requires registration and an access code setup by a teacher that bought the Teaching Version.

Band teacher recommended. My 12 year old niece need more "flute time". This was a great find. Without any musical background myself, I solely relied on the teacher's recommendation. She stated this was best for a student of the flute. It will help students learn, and "re-learn" the flute. This is a great resource and my niece stated it is very easy to follow. She has improved immensely.
This book was requested by my daughters flute teacher at school.This series is the standard instruction book at our elementary school for all the different orchestra instruments .My daughter is doing very well, learning to master the flute using this book.
