I'm an experienced photographer shopping for a new DSLR and wanting to get seriously involved in underwater photography. The book really covered what I needed to know in order to make the right purchase and begin to take better photos on SCUBA dives. For the novice at photography they might need to supplement with other instructional materials.
Rich Carey takes a common-sense, plain-English approach to explaining underwater photography, getting in a remarkable amount of the things you need to know in a lean, clear and concise 93 pages. The emphasis is on doing what you have to do to get the picture, without descending into jargon or excessively technical language. He also doesn't assume that everyone can go out and buy the latest and greatest of everything, and gives good advice on getting the most out of what you have to work with. Read it - for 5 bucks you can't go wrong.
This is a clear concise and not too lengthy reference for underwater photographers of all levels and gets right to the point.
Very Helpful and straightforward
Writes like a teacher of photography, not instructional manual for a camera. Clear stated so one can make the camera work underwater for you.
This book adequately covers the basics and introduces some more intermediate concepts. Some parts are a little light on detail but overall, if you starting out in underwater photography it is well worth it.
This is a great a book. It is a very quick read written in an easy-to-learn writing style. Goes straight to relevant facts and tips. I made many highlights while reading the ebook and compiled them into a separate Word document. I read through my notes and found that even the highlighted snippets are insightful. My notes will travel with me on my dive trip to serve as a reference. Again, this is illustrative of a beautifully concise writing styles that emphasizes focus on tips and practical guidance (and rationale for that guidance) over superfluous information and descriptions. I have purchases and/or read many photography books, so this writing style is much appreciated. I highly recommend this to anyone starting out in underwater photography.
This book covers everything from a small point and shoot all the way up to the professional gear. As an experienced photographer, I always like learning new techniques and tips from other pros. Best part is this book is available in the Kindle format so I can take this and other e-books with me on my next adventure.
