I have used Zagat guides since it first came out as a single sheet of paper in Paris many years ago. I never travel to a place without a trusty Zagat guide. Living in the Chicago metro area, I use the guide weekly. I do not eat at restaurants that are not reviewed by Zagat. I have found many restaurants in Zagat guides that I otherwise would have missed. I highly recommend the guide to everyone who likes good food and plans to eat out.
Maybe you really are a food snob. If you're reading a Zagat guide, it's more than likely that you are. I've found Zagat guides to be remarkably reliable for years. A great way to find out about restaurants you might not otherwise stumble upon.

I've been buying a ZAGAT Chicago restaurant guide for years. I've even submitted reviews. I try to get an updated version every year. The reviews are helpful, but do not always reflect my point of view about a particular place. I find the hard data that the guide provides the most helpful. The Cuisines and Locations sections have really enhanced my neighborhood culinary experience. The ratings and symbols guides are useful, but I find the addresses and phone numbers the best asset.
